Maddie, our mini horse, had a severe case of colic and was transported to the horse hospital. Thanks to many prayers and care she is recovering.
Spread the word and help raise more funds for this cause!
As many of you know, Maddie is one of our three rescued mini horses here at AVALON. She came to us with her daughter Gwen from the Northeast Miniture Horse Rescue. They joined our gelding Marcus to create a small herd of horses who help in healing through their honest, loving presence. We are a small farm and healing arts barn studio. Maddie is a brown, bucksin and her daughter Gwen beautiful grey. Marcus is a magestic black with white trim. Maddie is our lead mare.
Maddie helps keep all the other animals in check as well. We have a large fenced area and the goats, chickens and ducks free range. The farm dog, Skylar runs around Maddie's legs and head when she is grazing in the evening and they have a special understanding. Maddie looks at Skylar like he is a silly little boy (he is almost her size) with acceptance and sometimes nickers at him which he loves!
Maddie is part of our Equine Assisted Learning programs and is a favorite for her level headed kind manner. She adapts easily to the needs of her client, either young student or older participant.
We are just getting started here on the farm to offer our programs more widely to the public. It was devastating to witness Maddie so sick and in pain. She is our pillar. Thank you for supporting her high vet bills and payment to the Myhre Equine Clinic (hores hospital) which we did not budget for. She is now doinng much better.
